…your mind will make them up.
Life is full of mystery. Before we could even form a complete sentence, we asked why. Being brand new to the planet we had a lot of questions. I’m reliving that now with my young grandkids.

Sometimes we get impatient with the nonstop whys, but when we consider the newness of the world to them we might try a little more patience.
All through life though we have questions that don’t get answered and starting from a young age, our minds fill in those blanks to make “sense”. But most times, the answers we fill the blanks with are irrational. A fictional answer to our reality dilemma.
Children will definitely fill in blanks if they do not get answers. Divorce, bullying, facts of life are all situations that need answers. Correct answers. If they listen to their own mind, or even to their peers, their reality could be very distorted to what is truth.

The mind is very powerful, and why it chooses to convince our being of untruth is a mystery to me. Why does it not choose to convince us of truth and peace?
I have a mental list growing in my mind of all the questions I want to ask Jesus when I see him face to face. But I suppose I will not care at that point. I will be on my knees, kissing the cloud I’m standing on, just thankful that I made it. Like I wanted to do in Italy after a terrifying taxi drive through Rome.
The mind can be quite deceitful. If we allow it run full throttle, relationships can be destroyed over trivial misunderstandings. It can hinder our relationship with God as well. And I’ve also had to realize that not everything is about me. If a relationship seems strained, many times it is because my mind made up something untrue. Their distance didn’t have anything to do with me. It was about something going on in their own life. And it was maybe something I could have helped them through if it wasn’t for my brain telling me I did something wrong to where I couldn’t approach them.
Sigh….
Training the brain takes work. It needs to be corrected…and bridled to some extent. Wasting time stewing over untruth is a waste of time and energy. It robs us of moments, days and nights, and of enjoying the life God has blessed us with.

I still let my why’s get the best of me. I know it is wrong but I have not figured out why yet.
