I Desire

I came across an unfinished poem of mine. I started it 10-15 years ago. I decided to finish it. ~Andi

I desire a warm summer’s breeze,

Birds singing love songs from the trees,

Sweet music of a banging door,

Little ones begging for just one more.

I desire a fresh cold drink,

No, not from the kitchen sink,

But from an endless mountain stream,

Near the cabin in my dream.

I desire the open air,

To dance and sing without a care,

To hear sweet laughter in my day,

And moments that take my breath away.

I desire to see more clear,

The dreams of all my children dear,

To always be their biggest fan,

And comfort when things don’t follow the plan.

I desire peace and love,

And all things good from God above,

A chance to learn from my mistakes,

And teach a young one what it takes.

I desire to write more words,

Of all my simple heart has heard,

To share these endless thoughts of mine,

With those who help my light to shine.

I desire my toes in sand,

As I watch a sunset grand,

Lacing hands with the man I love,

While thanking my dear Lord above.

I desire all these things,

And all the good this life can bring,

With gratitude within my heart,

Is the best way for my day start.

I’m a mom of six amazing kids. They have blessed me with six grandchildren. I love the outdoors. I am a country girl through and through. There I find a closeness with God and am inspired. Writing is my passion.
