How Easy It Is To Forget

Why is it when everything goes well after a difficult time, we put Jesus back in the drawer and forget about him until the next trial brings us down?

We still have pretty much the same stuff going on in our life as when we were going through the bad time. But then, we prayed without ceasing, and God answered us in his way. How do we forget his graciousness so easily?

Are we really any different from Peter when he denied Jesus three times? He didn’t even remember the words Jesus spoke until his eyes met Jesus’s and then he did. And Peter went out and wept bitterly.

Peter physically walked this earth alongside of Jesus. How could he so easily forget?

And how could we?

I guess we are the same as Peter. Human. But still….

I’ve heard some state they are closer to God when things are on the upswing, and pull away from him during the bad times. I’m the opposite of that, for sure. When things are going good, Ms Andi is in control. She’s got this. When things go south, it is then she remembers all that Jesus has done in her life.

That’s just not how it works. If we want Jesus with us during the bad times, we must include him in our good times as well. Jesus is not a genie-in-a-drawer.

Learn to be consistent and keep Jesus close every single day. He deserves that place in our life and, actually…he wants to be there. ♥️

  2. Definitely a lot of truth in what you wrote.

Joshua 25:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

We all have to choose to serve Him. It may be the gods before the flood or ANY idol, or thing, we put before God and his Son. Anything we find ourselves doing more than serving our Creator with our given to us free time (really all the time) we have.

Blink and this life is over, it’s a small offering really, so small, to give up the unneeded pleasures of this world, for such a short time to be able serve Him, to be able to then tap into His grace and enter in heaven. Because if we don’t give of our talents, he will not bestow upon us His Beautiful greatest gift ever, His Grace. And without His Grace… there is no hope of heaven above.

What a small task we have in this world to do, for such a short time, to be able to receive such everlasting freedom from death and suffering eternally. Eternal for all time, (not some of the time), if we give our talents to Him daily, weekly, yearly. In the service of His kingdom. Doing what He has commanded us to do. Such a short time. Such a blessing to give so little, to earn so much. It’s incomprehensible.
