As we travel through life, we encounter many decisions that need to be made each and every day. We base our decisions on a variety of factors. A decision might be made on what worked best in a similar situation. Some decisions might be based on advice from a trusted source. Sometimes they are based on feelings. Often decisions are made on a whim which we end up paying for later.
Whether we are figuring out what to base our decisions or relationships on, we have a tendency to gravitate towards things that feel familiar to us, whether it be certain types of people, situations, or places. Sometimes this can give us great peace while often it can turn our lives upside down.
Channeling toward things familiar often leaves us spiraling. And it’s not a good spiral.

A new relationship that seems familiar (often subconsciously) may give a sense of comfort, even if the familiarity is that of pain. I know that doesn’t seem to make sense but it can be very real.
When it comes to differentiating between a good, solid relationship from one that is not, is often confusing. I have a long history of choosing wrong (familiar) people to be a part of my life.
I write this post out of my own experiences. If you find that the new relationship or situation, seems amazing at first, only to fail painfully, it is time to evaluate the similarities between the past and present. Only then can you make the necessary changes. Maybe seeking the opposite of what you’re used to is what you actually need to search for.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I had to reevaluate my life choices in hope of better, healthier outcomes. Things familiar often create a feeling of safety, when in reality they are far from being safe.
When something feels exceptionally good, comfortable, and safe, step outside of the circle and evaluate whether the situation reminds you of a time and place from your past…when it wasn’t.
