Goodbye May

I absolutely love the month of May. It’s so green and flowery. Even the birthstone is the green emerald.

Flowers are everywhere you look. They are fresh and bright. Not yet scorched by the summer heat and lack of rain. The grass is thick and green. The trees are in their fullness.

The birds are nesting in our many houses across our property. A possum momma carried her three littles on her back across our side yard. We’ve got bunnies this year too! I’ve never seen rabbits on this property until this spring. That, to me, is a very happy sight.

May is filled with excitement too. Since my state is home to the Indy 500, there are a host of activities attached to that race all month long. This year’s Indy 500 was a race I wish we had watched from the start. I hear it was quite spectacular. Even the finish line made history, which we did see.

Memorial Day is very special. It is a day set aside to honor all those who once served our country and are no longer here. People, including me, have referred to Memorial Day as the beginning of summer. City pools open, don’t cha know. But I do try to acknowledge and honor the importance of Memorial Day.

Yes, both Mother’s Day and my birthday are in May. But it’s not so much about me as it is getting to see my children and grands and getting calls from those far away. Well, maybe it is about me.

I have a handful of friends who also have birthdays this month. My sister does too. I was born on the 22nd of May, 1961, and she was born May 10th of 1962. So for twelve days we are the same age. Our poor momma…

May means spring is in full bloom and I am grateful to witness such beauty. So I am sad to see it go. It went so fast!

Hello to June (in about four hours). I don’t know that you can outdo May, but go ahead and give it your best shot.

I’m a mom of six amazing kids. They have blessed me with six grandchildren. I love the outdoors. I am a country girl through and through. There I find a closeness with God and am inspired. Writing is my passion.

  1. I love May.

If you see lots of bunnies you usually do not have too many skunks and if you see lots of skunks you usually don’t have too many bunnies. They don’t like to cohabitate near each other. Atleast that is what Bruce used to tell me.
