With Simple Eyes

We live in a pretty small area of the world. For most of us, our home, school, work, church, shopping, and play areas are all very near to us in comparison to the size of our planet.

Our life can be rather complex as it is a compilation of many things. It’s up to us to differentiate truth from fallacy, and what responsibilities are yours, mine, and ours.

So what is our role in this world? What are our responsibilities? Does the world owe us, and what do we owe this world?

God has provided what we need to live and breathe during our days here. He added extra beauty for our eyes, ears, and souls. He didn’t need to paint the mountains so beautifully, or color each flower so uniquely. He didn’t need to give each bird their own song. But he did. God could have given us the very basics to survive, yet gave us so much more than we could ever imagine, much less deserve. Wild flowers, sparkling brooks, gentle breezes that brush against our skin, warm, wet sand that squishes between our toes, and romantic sunsets. He gave us way more than we need just to survive because he loves us.

But he also left us with responsibilities…to care for what he’s given us and to love one another.

That’s not how this world works as, for the most part, it has left God out of the picture. There is a lack of love and compassion as a whole. People mistreat each other every second of every day. Humans have a tendency to be selfish and self-absorbed. The authorities in this world are all too often more corrupt than good. They falsely believe that their control will bring them personal happiness and glory. Meanwhile, they are oblivious to the fact that there is no glory in taking, but in giving. Humans are quite greedy and have a distorted view of what is theirs.

So the responsibilities in life lie within each of us. Happiness is better found within our own heart. Kindness isn’t a gift of the world. The world of humans is incapable of loving as a unit. It is up to us to make the best of our life, to rise above the filth that tries to bury God’s beauty, and to think more simply about how to make this life a better place for ourselves and those we love.

The world is harsh on its own. It doesn’t owe us because it can’t pay up. God has given us all that we need…and we will see it if we just step back and look at it with simple eyes.

Below is a quote from my blogger friend, Danielle.

I got angry at the world for being so unkind –

But it is not the worlds job to be kind to me….

That is my job.

And I cannot be angry at myself – for not knowing exactly how to do that all the time.
