The Promise of a Robin

My blogger friend, Danielle, lives on the east coast. She was slammed with that nor’easter and lost power last evening. She and her black cat, Eve, are going to make the best of this day. Danielle prepared a thermos of hot coffee ahead of time. That was a smart move.

I commented on her post that here, in central Indiana, I saw 8 robins in my yard yesterday. What a welcoming sight to see. Spring is just around the corner. I told Danielle that these robins are headed her way soon and that I’m sending her the promise of a robin.

Another sweet sign of spring has been the deer in our yard. I didn’t see a single one all winter. But the other morning there were 16 out here. They were certainly enjoying the sunshine and snowless ground.

One yearling had a touch of spring fever as she ran around quite playfully. I can only imagine the tough winter they experienced with the long stretch of bitter cold and snow.

Then there are the baby lambs being born at my sister-in-law’s. She’s had two sets of twins born along with a single baby. Lambs are just the cutest!

Jeanna with her new baby. 😍

I was also thrilled to see the water moving again on the pond. It was solid ice for quite awhile. Well, up until this morning that is. I see a skim of ice over the pond again, but it won’t last long. It will be above freezing this week.

Subtle signs of spring. I’ll take each and every one of them.
