After the Storm

The storm left behind a nine inch blanket of snow and windchills in the negative degrees. Even though the temps are bitter, the sun shines bright in a sky of magnificent blues.

Birds are flying from the fence posts to the feeders to their homes in the cedar trees or holly bushes and then back to the fence again. But this activity has to be admired from my window today.

I think about the variety of wildlife around our property. I know God prepared each animal for weather like this, but still I wonder how they do it…and if they are okay. How do their bodies tolerate the high heat in the summer and the lowest of lows in the winter along with the snow and ice?

It amazes me…especially, with the delicate design of the feet and legs of birds. All I can say is God is amazing in his creation. He thought of everything.

Meanwhile, I keep piling on more clothes or wrapping up in blankets. Periodically, I find myself standing in the bright sunlight of my kitchen window and dreaming of the back patio in summertime. The sun feels so good on my face. My orchids are loving it too.

    1. Thank you! I hear it’s going to be a little chilly in Florida. I keep track. 😊 My dad’s widow is on the Gulf side and my daughter is in Melbourne.

  1. we didn’t get the snow or ice that they predicted. We are in a freeze though which is not normal for this area. It got down to 17 last night and tonight it’s going down to 8. BURRRR!
