We are halfway through the first month of 2026 already. I am retired yet the days go faster than when I worked.
I need more time. More hours in my days. I recall many days throughout my life where the hours didn’t move fast enough. Some days were too short. Others, just way too long. Same exact hours, just different days. Ahhhh…I recall those young mom years when I wondered if my kids would ever grow up.

Be careful what you wish for….

They do, in fact, grow up. They develop their own opinions and their own ways of processing life. They move far away to places like Chicago, Mexico, and Florida. Miles and miles away from home here in Indiana. Life completely changes when they grow up.

in Chicago
Their problems are way bigger now than those of their youth.
Who didn’t put the Little People play sets away?
Go to your room and think about it.
Stop bossing your brother.
Do your math.
Who made this mess?
Stop arguing with your sister.
Keep it down.
Who didn’t empty the dishwasher?
Read your book.
Just go outside.

Yes, I miss those days…..
I have been working on my breathing. Slowing it down to calm myself. I need to heal the fright and flight mode my body has been in for a while. When you experience a long illness, your body reacts in a scared, unsure way of moving forward. So I’m reassuring my body and mind to feel safe by the food I eat and by bringing a calmness into my life. This is a huge part of wellbeing. And time still flies by, even on my many quiet days, yet thankfully, with hints of improvement.
I want to be well, yesterday. But it will take time. Time that is fleeting. So I fill these short hours with good things and good thoughts. Letting go of, and praying for, what I cannot change or have control over. Especially concerning the adult problems and decisions my children must face on a day to day basis in this crazy world.
Though, I’ll always be here when they need me to be.

Such is life. A vapor.

Make the absolute best of wherever you are presently. Always live fully in the moment. Fill your time with beautiful things and take good care of yourself. The hours fade quickly into months and years.
