I was unsure about this day. It felt off. I had something to do in town yet all I wanted was to be at home.
When I got home, I did nothing. Certainly, nothing amazing. I didn’t help anyone. I didn’t lift anyone up. My kids were quiet. The house was quiet. I didn’t even have good conversation with God. Oh, I packed some Christmas away, did laundry, and cooked. But really nothing noteworthy.
I stepped outside with Nyx tonight, and saw this amazing sunset. An exclamation point.
It made me wonder what was so spectacular about this day that it should end with such brilliance.
I had to think about it.
So I thought…
What if this exclamation point was simply to point my thoughts toward God. Maybe Jesus was saying, “Hello, it’s me!” Did you enjoy the bright sunshine I gifted you today? I knew you needed it.”
Maybe it’s a simple reminder to count my many blessings but…perhaps, more importantly, to be grateful for the One who is greater than me.
