My girls and I, along with my sister, started a book club about a year and a half ago. We call it the No Sense Book Club. We FaceTime to discuss the last book and one of us introduces the new book of the month. We live in four states so these FaceTime calls can get rather confusing as we all excitedly talk at once. Hence, the name No Sense. We love our time together. That’s the best part of the club.
These are a few of my favorite books we’ve read. Have a Little Faith is a book I just finished on my own. Tomorrow night is our next meeting. We are a little late this month because of those traveling for the holidays.

Our December book was The Snow Child. It was magical. Whimsical. The story takes place in the Alaskan wilderness in the early 1900’s. It is a story about the Russian fairytale called The Snow Maiden. Snegurochka, in Russian. Definitely enjoyable. The author writes so well.

The Happiest Man on Earth is a true story of faith, strength, and perseverance. Written by Edward Jaku, who survived the evils of concentration camps. It’s a fairly short book but filled to the brim with wisdom. It’s a book everyone should read at some point in their life. He makes you feel that you are his friend because he speaks directly to you. That’s how I felt.

The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder. This is a historical story that took place in 1741. That’s a long time ago but…oh, so very interesting. One of my favorites, by far. I love stories based on true events and people.

Dreadful is a fantasy tale. I’m not much into fantasy but this wasn’t too bad. It had me at “waking up with no eyebrows”.

Have a Little Faith is another true story by Mitch Albom. I have to say he’s probably one of my favorite authors, if not my number one. Tuesdays with Morrie is another great story he wrote. I love how he balances Have a Little Faith between two men, two religions, that love and serve the same God.

Let Them is a self-help book. Mel Robbins says the quiet part out loud. You know, when someone puts you down or carelessly says hurtful things, your shoulder angel whispers in your ear, let it go. Don’t let it bother you. Don’t let it ruin your day. It’s a great book. Definitely a book to pick up at the library or Barnes and Noble on your way from work. Amazon is almost as quick though.
These books should get you through to the spring thaw. I’m anxious to find out our January book tomorrow.
Happy reading!

Love this! I have relatives in three other states and we’re lucky if we get together every other year. We all love reading and this would be a great way to keep in touch 😎
PS: bonus points awarded for the elegant way the books are presented in the pix 😉
